Sharing some Christmas cheer!
(8/12/2012)
Children from the Upper School shared some Christmas cheer with some of the elderly people in our community. The Year 5 class visited ‘Brendoncare’ in Mudeford and sang a range of Christmas Carols and festive songs beautifully; much to the delight of all who were listening. Our Year 3 class went to sing for the Post Office Veterans Christmas Party at Pelhams. Their singing brought much joy to the 70-80 people gathered there. At both events, after the singing, children had refreshments with everyone attending. Those organising and attending the events commented on our pupils’ wonderful behaviour, confidence and demeanour - they were truly a credit to the Talbot House community!

You should also recall me mentioning our great pride that our former pupil, Harry Butler who was in our Year 6 class last year was chosen to represent Great Britain in an International tournament played in the Czech Republic. I am delighted to report that Harry won every single game he played in both the singles and doubles matches. Based on the performance of the whole team, GB came 5th overall. Here we have a photo of Harry Butler in his Team GB tracksuit – we are very proud of our Harry!
Visit to No. 10
(2/11/2011)
Mrs Martin was especially pleased to accept an invitation from Mr David Cameron to attend a reception to celebrate the 2012 Pearson Teaching Awards at 10 Downing Street this week. She joined a gathering of around 150 guests, including the Prime Minister , the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove and celebrities Elizabeth McGovern, Al Murray and Alex Kingston (who wrote a lovely note to her class!). Mrs Martin says,"It was a great honour and an absolute thrill to enjoy the hospitality and look around the rooms of No. 10! Mr Cameron said he believes that teachers are ’Nation Builders’ and I’m inclined to agree with him! "
Diwali Celebrations
(21/10/2011)
Our kindergarten classes enjoyed special Diwali celebrations thanks to Mrs Vasani (mother of Utkarsh in KG-H) this week. She helped the children make lanterns and provided delicious sweet cakes for them to try. The children made their own clay Diva lamps.
Science Residential Weekend
(16/10/2011)
24 children from Years 4-6 enjoyed some exciting grand scale Science activities at Hooke Court this weekend! We started the weekend with a ’glow in the dark’ adventure. There were opportunities to build shelters; cook on a fire; create boats, rockets and balloon buggies; go pond dipping and bridge the moat - all in the beautiful grounds.
Harvest
(14/10/2011)
Today we enjoyed an extra special ‘Harvest Festival’ assembly. We had an impressive display of grocery items to donate to the ‘Bournemouth Foodbank’. This important charity very much appreciates our support as the food we give goes to help vulnerable and needy people in the community. Thank you all so much for your generosity.
The Kindergarten Pay Class delighted us with a charming Harvest assembly. They told us about the lovely vegetables they brought in, and we loved their little song. This was their first ever assembly presentation - well done KG Pay!
Pantomime Star Visits!
(12/10/2011)
Today we enjoyed a visit from Chris Jarvis; TV presenter and actor; especially appreciated by children who know him from CBeebies. We were all entertained by some of his impressions and many pupils had the opportunity to ask Chris about his work as an actor, writer and presenter, as well as aspects of working in television and the theatre. Our School was chosen for the special visit since so many of us are going to the Pantomime, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ in December and we will cheer Chris on as the loveable Silly Billy in this much loved pantomime!
