Charities at Talbot House Preparatory School
Talbot House Preparatory School has a sincere sense of responsibility towards the wider community. Our ongoing commitment to charitable causes forms part of the strong, caring ethos of our School. Below we have listed the donations we have made to various charities.
Our most recent charity event was the very successful ‘Black Tie Event’ at the Village Hotel, Bournemouth on 26th March 2011. It proved to be a fabulous event and we have had such brilliant feedback from guests who have congratulated us on a fantastic, successful evening! So many individuals in the community helped the event by arranging prizes, donations and also as guests which we very much appreciate.
We are very proud to support Help for Heroes to honour the dedication and bravery of our service men and women. We regularly support this important charity, as we have a number of families associated with the military; both through recent service and more distant involvement. We respect and value their commitment to our country and we are delighted to be presenting a cheque to the Help for Heroes charity for £5242.68! (Click here for more information)
In addition, we have continued to support a school in Ghana. As we have updated and refurbished at THPS, we have sent furniture, books, computers, playground equipment, resources and audio-visual items that have been gratefully received. We have received pictures of children in the School that started thanks to THPS and it is thrilling to see our tables, chairs, uniforms etc being used. We are told that if we hadn’t helped with our donation, it would not have been able to start as yet! Do have a look at these pictures on the School Website.
We also support the Bournemouth Foodbank (harvest gifts for the homeless) each year; the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal; the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance through recycling stamps; and we regularly take children singing for the elderly.
Furthermore, a number of children and staff have participated in various sponsored events for charity over the year and they too have been significant in raising funds for various worthy causes.

Talbot
House School helping HELP FOR HEROES
DINNER DANCE AND CHARITY AUCTION
We are delighted to announce that the Dinner Dance
Talbot House Preparatory School held on Saturday last week
in support of ‘Help for Heroes’ has raised a whopping
£5242.68!
On Saturday 26th March, we enjoyed a wonderful ‘black tie' evening at
The Village Hotel, Bournemouth; with a drinks reception,
sumptuous meal and a fabulous live band! 150 people filled
the Inspiration suite for a fantastic evening, in the name
of a most worthy cause.
Staff from Talbot House Preparatory School worked hard,
along with MSc Events Management students from the School of
Tourism at Bournemouth University to raise funds for the
Help for Heroes charity with an auction, raffle and
evening’s entertainment.
We were wonderfully supported by a sensational band: The
Unusual Suspects; who wowed us with an excellent performance
and gave of their time for free. They were especially happy
to do this since three of the members are ex-servicemen
themselves. In addition, auctioneer Ned Cowell, from George
Kidner Auctions also donated his time in support of this
important charity initiative.
